BC Ferries Coastal Inspiration Departs Canary Islands

Coastal Inspiration, the second of three new Super C-class vessels, stopped in 

Las Palmas, Canary Islands over the weekend for refuelling and is now en route across the  

Atlantic Ocean to Panama.  The vessel is expected to arrive in Panama in approximately 10 days, 

depending on weather during the trans-Atlantic crossing.    

  

 The voyage is going extremely well according to the ship’s crew.   

 

 BC Ferries looks forward to welcoming Coastal Inspiration home to B.C. in late March.

Columbus Replica to Join Victoria Tall Ship Festival Fleet


VICTORIA - February 7, 2008   A replica of one of the ships commanded by Christopher Columbus on his discovery of the New World in 1492 will make her first-ever voyage to Victoria as part of the 2008 Victoria Tall Ships® Festival, June 26-29.

 The Niña, a replica 15th century caravel redonda, is considered the most authentic replica ship sailing today.

 The Niña joins the The Eagle, a 295-foot (90 metre) three-masted barque from the U.S. Coast Guard, and a growing list of others now confirmed for the event. In all, over two-dozen of the world’s finest tall ships will make the voyage to Victoria’s historic Inner Harbour for the four-day festival.

BC Ferries Puts Four Vessels Up For Sale

 
VICTORIA – February 07, 2008

BC Ferries announced has announced hat four surplus vessels are being offered for sale.  With three new Coastal Class vessels and an intermediate size vessel joining the  BC Ferries fleet this year, the Company intends to retire four older vessels by the fall of 2008.  The Queen of Tsawwassen, one of BC Ferries’ original vessels, along with the Queen of Esquimalt, Queen of Saanich and Queen of Vancouver are all being offered for sale.  The vessels range in age from 45 to 48 years old.
